Five Years Old!

Anna turned 5 years old on July 30.  We went for her annual check-up and she weighed 35.5 lbs and was 3'4" tall, between the 10th and 25th percentiles for both.  Still on track to be about 5'3" as an adult according to the doctor.  Here's a little more about Anna at age 5:  1.  She's reading!  We are checking out simple Level 1 books at the library and she does a pretty good job.  She likes to tell you how to spell things.  2.  She can do simple addition and subtraction.  She blew us away not long ago when her dad asked her what "4 + 4 + 2" was and she thought for a second or two and responded "10!"  3.  She still loves arts and crafts.  4.  She says she wants to be a dancer when she grows up, but has decided that she would rather take gymnastics than dance this year.  5.  She loves to eat out at restaurants and her favorites are Chick-fil-A (for the playground, not the food!), McDonald's (loves their chicken nuggets and the prize in the Happy Meal), Iguana Grill, Habanero's (both for the chips and "cheese dip"), and The Egg and I (for the chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream!).   She also still has quite the sweet tooth, and therefore loves Yogurt Mountain and The Whole Scoop.  6.   She's decided that she would rather take showers than baths, but only with the hand-held shower head. 7.  She's finally decided she likes to sleep!  I now have to wake her up every morning around 6:30 in order to get ready for school and she always tells me she's still tired.  I never thought I'd see the day!  8. Favorite TV shows are still Sophia the First and Doc McStuffins.  She's also really into watching Netflix on her iPad and usually chooses things like Strawberry Shortcake, The Littlest Pet Shop, Barbie, and My Little Pony.  She's also in to princesses, of course.  9.  She likes to listen to the SiriusXM channel Kids Place Live when we're in the car.  10.  She still likes going to the zoo and the park and the library.  11.  She's finally learned to swim and is no longer afraid to get her face wet or go under water.  She'll even go off the diving board into the deep end if the mood strikes!  12.  She loves to wear dresses!
