18 Months Old

Sara turned 18 months old on December 11.  At her check-up, she weighed 23 lbs 6 oz and measured 32 inches tall, which was around the 50th percentile for both.  (I checked back on Anna's stats at this age and they're pretty much the exact same size, within a couple of ounces.  This is great news for all the hand-me-downs I've been saving!)  So what's Sara doing now?  She's running around like crazy!  She can use a fork and spoon impressively well for this age and generally loves to eat.  She quite easily puts away more than her 4 1/2 year old big sis who still seems to survive on air and sugar.  She's not a big fan of getting bathed, having her hair washed, or drying off.  There's usually a lot of screaming involved, which makes for an exhausted mom and dad by bedtime!  Sara loves to look at books--some of her favorites right now are Goodnight Moon, Ten Chirpy Chicks, Pat the Bunny, and Princess Baby on the Go.  She has a vocabulary of probably 25 words or so and also "talks" to us all the time in sentences that we don't understand at all!  Some of her favorite words are "no" and "mine!"  Imagine that.  She's still quite the little biter (and why shouldn't she be--check out those teeth!)  We're hoping she outgrows this phase pretty soon--it's starting to get embarassing!  Turns out the laid-back baby we thought we had has a temper like her dad's.  I guess our gene pool just makes for "spirited" little girls!  Good thing they're so darn cute!
